About Mike
For over 35 years Mike Birkel has been an innovator in the electrical contracting industry. As early as the 1980’s, Mike recognized the need for Birkel Electric to embrace the use of technology to better serve his customers.
With a mindset committed to technology-forward services and industry-first offerings, Mike has led the Birkel Electric team to unique successes within the industry.
Following in his father’s footsteps, Mike has propelled Birkel Electric to new ground by way of staff education and service innovations, building his team to be named the largest independent electrical contractor by the St. Louis Business Journal in 2019.
He represents over 50 years of electrical industry excellence from the Birkel family and holds true to the early business values set forth by his father, Tom Birkel, PE.
Mike was born and raised in St. Louis County and attended Chaminade Preparatory school before he received his degree in electrical engineering from The University of Missouri. He enjoys being involved with the Big Brothers Big Sisters Program, coaching local youth sports teams and lives locally with his wife and three children.
